Traverse Town is a located Between Worlds, a place-between-places akin to the Wayworld. Some say that Traverse Town was cobbled together from remnants of worlds lost to the Darkness, while others say that it was formed from the minds of the boldest, most adventurous dreamers. As a literal city of dreams, it has a variable layout, allowing it to always adjust itself to meet the needs of its inhabitants. Despite this, it presents a stable, usually tranquil air, resembling a Victorian-age town with cobblestone streets and gas lamps, forever flickering beneath an expansive sky of endless night, forever glittering with stars. The town has four major districts, as well as a fountain plaza and garden area.
- The First District features an outdoor cafe and several shops.
- The Second District is home to the hotel, gizmo shop, and additional storefronts.
- The Third District is more residential, featuring private townhouses and walled yards.
- The Fourth District is a mixed district of winding roads that surround a theater.
- The fountain plaza is a public gathering space that does indeed feature an ornate fountain.
- The gardens, similarly, are a dedicated green space with a glass-walled conservatory.
- The docks district offer a port of call on the Sea of Dreams.
