The Carnaval de la Lune Minuit was founded in France, by vampire acrobat twins Hartmut and Heinrich, who had been forced to leave familiar things behind when they became vampires. The twins gathered similar folk, including outcasts who were basically just humans, and formed a travelling troupe that they named the Carnaval de la Lune Minuit. This troupe went around all of Europe and even farther, to rescue, defend, and even sometimes resurrect those victimised by the ignorant peasants. Fairly recently, in the last quarter-century, the Carnaval settled in Port-Au-Feu for its main location, and sends a smaller troupe out from mid-summer to mid-autumn on the road.
