Then, as humans tend to do, they became determined that they were troubled by demons and their consorts. They looked for the witches, and they came into the trees, to free them from Rax and the devils they imagined frolicked with him on the silver nights of the full moon and the profound nights of the new.&lt;br /&gt;

The trees never let them leave.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Time never intruded too firmly into the woods. One day's venture out might show barely-standing huts, and another, a venerable society.&lt;br /&gt;

One day, Rax stepped out of the woods, for a while.&lt;br /&gt;

==SIGNATURE ABILITY==&lt;br /&gt;
===Witch of the Woods===&lt;br /&gt;
In times of great necessity, Rax may give himself over to the darkness he has touched so many times in his life. Doing so makes him physically untouchable, as if he were made of darkness, and greatly enhances all of his abilities, either until the immediate threat has been ended, or at most a period of around twelve minutes. In the thirteenth minute, all trace of him disappears for that minute.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
And that is the price of the power, being consumed by the shadows. After that sixty seconds has passed, he returns, greatly drained of energy. If he has overextended himself too much, he may even be unconscious and remain in that state for hours afterward...or even days, for an extreme enough exertion.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
There is a chance that he may not be returned immediately by the darkness, or that what returns may be consumed by his darkest aspects, which Rax must fight off. This may require him to retreat to the nearest forest, to center himself and return to his senses. If he doesn't, he runs the risk of becoming every bit the wicked witch he is often mistaken as being.&lt;br /&gt;

== SKILLS ==&lt;br /&gt;
{{Trait|Combat|Competent||Rax has had to fight more than a few times in his life, and he is able with hand-to-hand combat. This is helped by the fact that he often fights as dirty as he needs to, in order to win. He has been known to use certain items as weapons, such as brooms and daggers; most things he would use as a weapon would also be used in witchcraft.}}&lt;br /&gt;
{{Trait|Survival|Expert||Rax knows how to identify things that would be harmful to him and things that would not. His natural affinity to wooded environs certainly helps him, but he is extensively knowledgeable in what he can use to keep himself alive and healthy. He is most able to fend for himself in a forest of some kind, but he is fairly adaptable and can recognize useful and helpful things in a variety of environments.}}&lt;br /&gt;
{{Trait|Tracking|Expert||Rax is extremely good at tracking just about anyone or anything he wants, though in areas outside of his familiarity, his ability will rate closer to Competent, especially in comprehensively man-made environments. He very often uses his superhuman abilities to assist his efforts to track his subject.}}&lt;br /&gt;
{{Trait|Witchcraft|Expert||Rax has learned the secrets of nature and the hidden wonders forgotten in the underbrush. He has communed with the spirits and demons, the genius loci and the fair folk, and he has gazed at the kindly ones. He is typically able to put together a ritual or spell for a specific purpose, though this will also typically require time, materials, and preparation to cast or to perform, to say nothing of energy raised and focus.&lt;br /&gt;

The craft of the witch does not start and end with magic, however. Rax is, additionally, a more than able potioncrafter and is able to piece together ingredients and reagents based on what is available in his local environment.}}&lt;br /&gt;

== ABILITIES ==&lt;br /&gt;
{{Trait|Blood Magic|Enhanced|Magic|If Rax uses his blood, which works well given his recuperative ability, he can shortcut to effective, quick magic, even if it's typically less potent than if he had taken the time for a ritual, potion, or alchemical preparation. However, he is limited by the blood necessary for such a feat, and his recovery doesn't tend to be extremely rapid unless he seriously wounds himself trying to do this, which would generally be counterproductive.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Blood magic can cut preparation time in half and cut out the need for a lengthy ritual, but it also tends to reduce the potency of the outcome by at least half as well. It's best used in an emergency, and never lightly.}}&lt;br /&gt;
{{Trait|Communion|Enhanced|Magic|Anywhere there is nature, especially woods or a forest, Rax is right at home. He can communicate well with the flora and fauna, and by sharing some of his power, he can also influence them to do things. There may not have been a mass of prehensile vines and runners a moment ago, or a treant, or a ravenous bear. Even less dramatic things, such as being able to have a sense of people in the woods, are not beyond the asking.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
To be able to accomplish this, Rax must enter into a state of high focus. The more distraction or stress, the more effort it will take and the more difficult it may be for him. Once he has successfully connected with his environment, however, he will generally find it nearly effortless to do so again on subsequent attempts.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Information does take time to travel, it must be noted, so even things communicated through the silent whispers of the roots in the earth will take at least some seconds or minutes, depending on how large the area is, to reach Rax's awareness. If the subject of his interest takes measures to hide, it may delay awareness even longer.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Rax can commune with certain man-made environments as well, but they must be a comprehensive environment. The architecture must be particular, not just a perfunctory human habitat. There must be life to it, no matter how small, or else it becomes very difficult to communicate and receive communication. In such surroundings, of course, he is limited by the resources available to him.}}&lt;br /&gt;
{{Trait|Curse|Basic|Magic|Rax can, at will, cast a curse which he may either directly project at a target, or send on a breeze, with his breath giving it initial momentum. The curse will weaken a typical human and may make them feel ill or even pass out. It will not last for more than a few minutes, however, even though there may be lingering after-effects from having experienced the unpleasant sensations.}}&lt;br /&gt;
{{Trait|Divination|Basic|Magic|Rax is able to see occasional random visions that tell him things about events that usually either involve him directly, or involve him telling others about. He can read the tarot quite well, and he's able enough to read others non-magically to pair well with that.}}&lt;br /&gt;
{{Trait|Healing|Supreme|Magic|Rax was blessed (or some may say cursed) by a demon, to have unbelievable recuperative abilities. His body heals naturally, but it heals proportionally to any injury received. A paper cut would heal slightly faster than an average human would heal, but a deeper and more serious wound would close and heal much more quickly. Because of this, poison does not have much effect on him, and death itself cannot claim him.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
If Rax should use his power to heal another, it will work in much the same way, except that he will experience all of their pain and suffering as he does so. For this reason, he tends to prefer applying balms and potions or other means to encourage their own natural recovery abilities. Unfortunately, this is not always an option.}}&lt;br /&gt;
{{Trait|Senses|Enhanced|Magic|Rax is gifted, by the grace of being a witch of the dark woods, with the ability to see farther and in much lower light than a normal human would be able to do. He is also able to hear things at a greater distance than most, to distinguish individual ingredients including spices in prepared food, and he is additionally more able to distinguish the scents of individual people and animals.}}&lt;br /&gt;
