Thinking to use the lightning beasts native to that world to refuel their ship, the trio were instead bombarded by lightning. Waking up, they discovered that they had fantastic lightning powers. Later on, Garth was one of three teens who helped to save RJ Brande, the richest man in the galaxy. He bankrolled an organization of teen heroes, and Garth became Lightning Lad.<br />
