|quote=I'm not a hero. I'm a THIEF. BORN a thief. RAISED a thief. Will DIE a thief.
|quoteby=Himself
|notes=Felix Hardy was raised to believe he should never settle, that if he wanted something he should not stop until he had attained it. Taking that to heart, Felix trained to make himself as physically capable as he could manage. He first used the mantle of "Black Cat" to free his father from prison, and never looked back after that. Despite being a thief however, he tries to avoid doing visible harm to those he steals from.
|pers=
|bg=Felix Patrick Hardy was born to Walter Hardy and his wife, in one of his... admittedly failed attempts to settle down and have a family, to forget his life as a cat burglar. This one was just like all the others, and in short order his wife left him, leaving him with the child. One might have expected Walter to just throw the kid away, put his son up for adoption... but he didn't. No, he took responsibility and raised the child himself.

Of course, this meant he raised the child in his way of thinking, and taught him to do illegal things. As a result, Felix was picking his schoolmates' pockets at the tender age of seven. Beyond that, though, Walter taught Felix a lesson he would carry throughout his life -- never settle. If he wanted something, he should never stop working towards it until he got it.

When he was in his early teens, he started noticing things going very well for him... and very badly for others who tried to cross him. Like a black cat, he just seemed like he was bad luck for people who had beef with him. He never understood what was going on, just put it down to being get well-prepared, skilled... or just better looking. Life clearly liked him more!

The lesson of never stopping his pursuit of the things he wanted would rear its ugly (or would that be beautiful?) head when Felix had grown. Walter Hardy was arrested for a robbery, but it was one that he had not committed. So Felix went to a few of his dad's old contacts, and they found evidence of Walter's innocence.

Of course that wasn't enough. The wheels of justice are slow to turn, and Felix decided he wasn't going to just wait for them to decide to let his dear old dad go. So again talking to some of Walter's old crime buddies, they decided they'd help him do one more job -- busting Walter out! This was when Felix donned a costume for the first time. Given how luck just seemed to favor him, he decided he'd call himself "Black Cat".

The jailbreak was successful, of course, and on the way out, Felix left the evidence of his father's innocence (wiped free of prints, of course) on the desk of the warden, as well as sending separate copies to every newspaper in town! It didn't take long before there was public outcry that someone who had served his time in prison was still being harassed in his older years. The courts decided to drop any charges, so that wherever Walter Hardy was, he could live free.

Of course, "Black Cat" was now on the radar...

When Walter Hardy saw how well Felix handled himself in the jailbreak, he decided he would pass on his thieving techniques to his son. Better Felix go out there fully armed with equipment and knowledge than to go bumbling around and get caught immediately. So he began to build devices for Felix to use in his burglary. And from there, the legend of "Black Cat" began to take shape!
Sheet=

== SKILLS ==
{{Trait|Athleticism|Expert||This was part of his own training -- if he was to never stop until he got exactly what he wanted out of life, Felix figured he'd need to be in as good of physical shape as possible. He's capable of feats of agility and stamina in the realm of Olympic athletes. Felix's strength and physical endurance is nothing to sneeze about either. He's capable of lifting up to several hundred pounds only a minimum of effort, and continue running for twice as long as the average human.}}
{{Trait|Deceit|Expert||One has to be very good at lying to lead a double life. One has to be INCREDIBLY good at lying to lead a double life when that double life includes illegal activities. And to lead a double life of illegal activities when there are heroes around who are just as good at sniffing out liars, one has to be incredibly good at every aspect of deception to keep one's behind out of jail.}}
{{Trait|Escape Artist|Expert||As part of the training received from his father, Felix has learned to escape restraints such as handcuffs, ropes, straightjackets, and the like, and even to figure out ways out of confined spaces such as coffins, metal boxes/rooms, and the like.}}
{{Trait|Martial Arts|Competent||While Felix knows a smattering of techniques from many martial arts, he's more fully trained in Okinawan Goju-ryu karate and Judo. These styles both focus on using an opponent's own strength and momentum against them.}}
{{Trait|Skullduggery|Expert||Felix has been learning from his father Walter how to pick locks, crack safes, evade detection, track without being seen himself, disable alarm systems, etc., for the better part of his life.}}

== ABILITIES ==
{{Trait|Stochokinesis|Basic|Power|Felix has the ability to manipulate stochastic energy -- in laymans' terms, he can manipulate probability around him. He has little control over how this manifests, or even IF it manifests; his abilities just "push" events towards statistically unlikely events to keep events from unfolding around him in specific ways. For example, a gust of wind pushing a sniper's bullet to the side, or a railing grabbed by an opponent would be structurally unsound and fail. However, even if he has no conscious control over this ability, he must be consciously aware of the exact event that he wishes to prevent/change -- in the above examples, he must see/hear the sniper's bullet before it strikes the target; he must be aware of the opponent grabbing onto the railing. This power does not function at all if he is unconscious. This is sensable by those who can detect auras as a "flare" before bad luck strikes.}}

== ADVANTAGES ==
{{Trait|Equipment|||Made by Walter Hardy, this equipment includes a grappling hook for getting around, a pair of gloves with retractable claws (usable for both combat and for scaling walls), and a pair of sophisticated contact lenses that allow him to see in the dark more efficiently.}}
{{Trait|False Identities|||"Ashley Moon". "Gill Harmon". "Elod Gros". And when he's feeling silly, "Francis Featherbottom". Point is, he operates under a lot of names, and he can hide under another alias when the heat gets put on one.}}
{{Trait|Walter Hardy|||Felix's father, once a world-renowned catburglar himself, is also something of a tinkerer. It was him that originally made most of Felix's equipment. He's taught Felix how to maintain and repair it though, realizing that their line of work is dangerous, and either one of them could be arrested -- or possibly killed -- at any time. It was also Walter that taught Felix how to break into places, and assisted with all the physical training that made Felix into the spry cat burglar he is now.}}

== WEAKNESSES ==
{{Trait|Hedonist|||Felix is used to getting what he wants. And what he wants is nice things -- like most people! But because he's used to getting what he wants, he's easily tempted by offers of money, pretty things, memberships to exclusive clubs, offers of art and expensive objects, etc. He is also more likely to be caught off-guard when these offers turn out to be traps.}}
{{Trait|Selfish|||It's true, Felix is not a villain. He has no interest in destroying all of humanity, getting revenge on someone because they humiliated him in high school or anything like that. But that doesn't mean he's perfect. Far from it, in fact. Felix is a selfish little snot, and will not be denied something that he wants or feels he deserves. He will go to ridiculous lengths to get what he wants, though never to the point of killing someone. He's not a villain. Just not a hero.}}
{{Trait|Taking From Both Sides|||Felix's line of work is... well, it's illegal, in a word. This will almost assuredly bring him into conflict with the superheroic set eventually, and the superheroic set tends to be more of a danger to his remaining free and not in jail than the typical person. But he's also not a villain, and is just as liable to run afoul of the supervillainous set... and that could be a danger to his life.}}
{{Trait|Walter Hardy|||Felix's dad Walter is getting on up there in years. However, he still has enemies. Not only that, if "Black Cat" and "Felix Hardy" are ever connected, it'll be too easy to get to Felix through his dad.}}
